JOB DESCRIPTION
ORAKI INC. is looking for a talented and bilingual Assistant Fashion Designer to join its Montreal-based team. Reporting to the Head Designer, the selected candidate will collaborate with the in-house design team to develop a variety of fashion products and accessories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively participate in the creative process: brainstorming, inspiration research, trend analysis, and idea sharing with the design team.
- Create complete tech packs for each style in the collection (sketches, technical details, fabric information).
- Follow up on patterns with our pattern-making team and ensure smooth coordination between teams.
- Lead product fittings during development and take detailed notes for adjustments.
- Produce sketches in Adobe Illustrator for internal presentations and technical documentation.
- Contribute to the creation of colour palettes and inspiring visual combinations.
- Ensure products adhere to the established development calendar.
- Maintain rigorous follow-up with the production team to guarantee quality and style compliance.
- Support brand image initiatives, product presentation, and overall collection cohesion.
- Assist the team with various related tasks as needed.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent training.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role within the fashion industry.
- Experience in accessories development (an asset).
- Strong technical knowledge of garment and accessory construction.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, tech pack software, Photoshop, Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities effectively.
- Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a creative and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proactive mindset, creative curiosity, autonomy, and ability to propose concrete ideas.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback with openness and professionalism.
